Why Guide ED
Understanding before deciding.
The questions families bring
Which school? Which curriculum? Which subjects? Which university? They’re all important questions. But over the years, I’ve learned that those questions are only the beginning.
Every decision brings with it so much more to understand. That’s why I rarely begin by trying to answer the question. I begin by trying to understand everything that’s sitting underneath it.
What sits underneath it
The child
The family’s values
Their strengths
Their hopes
How they learn
Their concerns
Their personality
What success looks like for them
A different kind of conversation
What I believe
Principles that shape every conversation.
Every child is different.
There is no single path that works for everyone. Every decision should begin with understanding the child in front of us.
Fit matters more than prestige.
The right school or university isn’t necessarily the most prestigious one. It’s the place where a young person can learn, grow, and thrive.
Self-awareness comes before decision-making.
The better young people understand themselves, the more confidently they can make decisions about their future.
The best answers come from deeper understanding.
Recommendations are most helpful when they're grounded in an understanding of your child, your family and what matters most to you.
Education is about more than admissions.
Choosing a school or university is important. But education is also about curiosity, resilience, confidence, relationships, and becoming the person you’re growing into.
Beyond admissions
GuideED began by helping families navigate education decisions. That will always be at the heart of what I do. But over time, I’ve come to realise that preparing young people for life involves much more than helping them choose a school or university.
I’m increasingly interested in helping young people…
Understand themselves. Build resilience. Learn how to learn. Develop healthy habits. Make thoughtful decisions. Navigate change with confidence.
Whether you’re choosing your child’s first school, planning for university, or navigating
one of the many decisions in between, you don’t have to figure it out alone. I’d love to
help you think it through.
